Funky Fifteenth and a new challenge for February

Hello to one and all

Just a quickie to tell you all about the latest challenge for Funky Hand on the 'Get Funky' challenge blog.

Each month on the 15th (now known as the Funky Fifteenth), one of the Design Team members takes a turn in setting the challenge and kicking it off on the blog.  This month, our Jules has kicked it off with the theme "Show us your heart".

If you want to hop over to the blog, go HERE to see Jules' contribution and inspiration.  Every two days, another DT member will post their offering for inspiration so its worth keep checking the blog to see what is there to inspire you and hopefully get your creative juices flowing.

For each challenge, you simply have to follow the theme and ensure that you have at least one Funky Hand design element or paper incorporated into your creation.

My DT piece is due on the blog on 3rd March - I'll be posting here as well as on the 'Get Funky' challenge blog - so keep your eyes peeled.

Hope you are having a happy day - and that somehow it involves some element of creativity.

Big hugs

Funky Hand DT Samples for Launch of 'Craft the Year Away' (As seen on TV)!

I thought I'd share my DT samples that I made for the launch of Funky Hand's new CD - 'Craft the Year Away'.

These samples were on Create and Craft last week when Anice - (Funky Hand head honcho) went down for the two live shows.  Her first was with Nigel and the second with Joanne.  Repeats are still being shown through the night so if you missed, you could set your SKY+ box to record - channel 671.  This one wasn't shown though!

Everyone loves a word book - and this has been made using one of the colour collections on the CD called 'January Blues'.  All the text inside and the images are off the CD too.

how lovely are these colours - and how sweet are these images???

I'll show other samples in posts over the coming week - but if you want to see ALL the DT's samples in the gallery - click HERE.  This will take you to the Funky Hand site where you will also be able to purchase this versatile CD.  Remember - Funky Hand CD's are basically collections of modern/retro/highly designed and very unique design papers - saving you having them stacked up in your craftroom - the CD being there to dip into as and when you want that certain some something original and vibrant.

Hope to see you back soon - why not sign up for an email alert of my blog posts so that you get them directly in to your inbox?  You'll never miss another rambling from me again!!! LOL.

sending big hugs

Less is More - A CAS Challenge card

A very dear blogging friend, Chrissie from the blog 'Simply One of a Kind' along with another blogging friend Mandi from 'Enchated Occasions' have set up a brand new challenge blog and named it 'Less is More', which basically is all about clean and simple cards.

Their very first challenge was launched on Saturday 5th February - and they kicked off with a colour challenge; pink white and black.

My cards can never usually be accused of being CAS so, I thought this was definately the challenge for me.

If you want to visit this new challenge blog - click HERE and have a look at what Mandi and Chrissie have come up with.

Here is my entry to the challenge:

The sentiment is an Anna Griffin stamp and the image is a digi from the latest Funky Hand CD - 'Craft the Year Away' which has been cut with a Spellbinders nestibility.

The pink and black are basically strips of card stock - the pink being pearlescent.

No embellishments or ribbons in sight - I really think my card is quite CAS - clean and simple - with lots of white space as required!

I could get to like this look - and to be honest, it was one of the quickest cards i've ever made.

Thanks for looking - hope to see you back in the playground soon.

p.s. congratulations to Chrissie's daughter and her little family as they welcomed Chrissie's first grandson, Sebastion Jack into the world yesterday (7th February 2011), weighing in at a modest 8lb 3oz.

MY First DT Cards for FUNKY HAND - and January's challenge

Well, the moment I've been waiting for has finally arrived.   I can now reveal my DT cards for this months Funky Hand challenge where the theme this month is "Going round in circles"...

The idea behind my particular cards for this months challenge (yes, I said cards -as in the plural of card LOL) is that sometimes, when you need to make a card and you've totally lost the mojo, the power to think (or the will to live!!!), and after you've looked at all the cards, sketches and inspiration there is - sometimes, you just can't come up with a suitable card.  So, thats where I hoped my card would come in.  If you have nestabilities or a circle punch (I used a 1.5" circle punch on these cards) you can basically make this card in minutes and the variations on a theme are endless - even if you are using the same colourways and design papers...

Here are some additional cards which are all made using the brand new Funky Hand CD 'Craft the Year Away" - the following cards are all from the colour collection 'September Song'

with so many images and colour collections to choose from, I could have been at this all week and never repeated the same card twice.

I explain all about the cards and which collection they came from on the challenge blog "Get Funky".

I used a 1.5" circle punch to achieve this look and momento chalk inks to edge the cards.

This card style either makes use of all those scraps of Funky Hand papers you have lying about and don't want to get rid of, or you can print 3 or 4 different designs from the same colour collection - which would ensure everything matched.

Pop by the blog HERE and see if you could take part in this months challenge.  Don't dispair if you have no FH papers - our Chief funkette Anice, has designed a FREEBIE download to get you started.  To get the scrummy freebie, you need to go HERE.  So there you have it - no excuses not to take part in this months challenge whatso ever...

Allison - my fellow funkette who set the challenge this time, explains all the rules for entering the challenge etc HERE.

So, that just about concludes my first post as a Funky Hand DT member.  Hope you enjoed the cards - and the reasoning behind them!!
Til next time...

Launch of the New Funky Hand CD - Craft the Year Away

Just in case you ladies didn't know - or had forgotten (how could you have) - the latest CD from Funky Hand was released live on Create and Craft yesterday... yes indeed it was.

As you may or not know, this will be Funky Hand's 11th CD - the 3rd in the Papercraft Factory series.  If you go HERE to the website you will be able to see a demonstration of the software that is Papercraft Facory - you won't believe how easy it is to use.

The theme of the CD is months of the year and the collections are named by the month where each month the colourways are recognisable of the time of year - in a FUNKY HAND stylee!!!

If you go HERE - you will be able to see some fabby Design Team (Funkettes) samples of just what the CD can achieve for you - and it'll knock your socks off!!!

Look out for repeats of the show (subject to stock levels) throughout the week - but Anice will be back on Friday 4th February with two LIVE shows at 10am and 2pm.

Also - check out the challenge blog to see the latest posting by the Funkettes - the theme for January's challenge is 'Going Round In Circles'.  My card is due to be posted on 8th February and will also appear on here.  Mine will be an example of how you can use the fantastic designs to make a very simple but effective card - so come back and make sure you have a good look.  Remember - you can always click on the blinkies on my side bar to get to the website and challenge blog at any time.

Thanks for reading - please leave a comment to say you've been - then come back again. hugs, Paula x x x
