WOYWW - 12th May 2010

Morning all

Thank you to all those who visited my blog last week - I did TRY and visit everyone - but had to do it over several days - I know I'm probably not alone there - there were SOOOO many!!!

Anyhows, I'm going to try and make this shorter than my last WOYWW post - so without further ado - here's the desk in all its glory!!!

Well, what do we have on the desk then???  Left to right, we have
  • the  SKY+ remote (yes its all mine Julia!!),
  • next is a TH Distressed Ink Pad in Mustard Seed (or something) - I received this on Moday then realised i'd already got it - so, if anyone has got a swap (i'll be swapping the brandnew one although i've used neither yet) please let me know.
  • Behind that is a K&Co 6x6 paper pad in Hopscotch - ready for a card I should have made last week (but weren't able to),
  • in front of the DI is my fave Kirsty Wiseman CD

We also have - well, nearly everything out... I have not crafted really for over two weeks properly so my mind is soooo busy I didn't focus on anything so it looks like a car crash!!!
The pile of handmade paper that Kathy sent me is still on the desk becuase I actually made one of her flowers (although didn't read the instructions properly so cut it out differently (wrong?)) - more of that later 'cos I actually made one...

My received craftrak cards are out from last night as I'd been showing Lynn (crafty Linby)... My new momento inks received yesterday - a grey and brown one

another view of the desk:

There is crepe paper on the desk, some stamping going on, my little tin which I bought to decorate but haven't got round to it yet (have you got any on those projects too???)!!!

In the front of the picture you'll see something that looks like a green something or other... well my friends, that is a brand new tool that I ordered the other day - its actually a knife, but no ordinary knife, oh no, its got a ceramic blade and cuts like a dream - its my new fave tool of the moment and is called a slice.  The blade is safe to the fingers, hardly protrudes, but never blunts, chips or needs replacing... it cuts like you would draw with a pen - exciting stuff and need to play more...

Here's the wall above the desk - its all work in progress as i've not put any of my wonderful pics back up yet:

Not sure if its working for me yet - but it does store my growing collection of MS punches (I love those)!!!

Here is something i've been making with the crepe paper on my desk - they are prototypes LOL and one of those shabby flowers made using the handmade paper sent to me by Kathy - slightly on the large side with a lovely centre - following Kathy's tutorial (I linked this last week but here is is again).

Here are some frames from IKEA to house the lovely artwork from WIPSO and TWIGLET and a couple of mirrors with big wooden frames to decorate - too many projects... too little energy!!! LOL...

On another note: my trip to IKEA last week resulted in the purchase of another 8 cube Expidit shelf unit - I've swapped it for the 4 cubed one which had my printer on the top.  Ashley now has that in his bedroom to dump stuff on (he's promised to tidy his room (yeh - right)!.  Anyway, my craft room therefore is work in progress again.  I also swapped the glass shelf display unit that was in the conservatory for a cupboard that was originaly at the foot of my stairs - so have moved my stamp folders and some other stuff from the floor in there.  The printer is also on top of there now too... When its all finished, I'll show (hopefully next week).

Well, i'm going to have a PJ and laptop day today - I had a telephone comsultation with my Doctor yesterday - who said everything that you lovely concerned bloggers have been telling me... listen to my body, its has a lot of healing to do, the second op will have set me back and i'm not to do too much - which of course in the last two days I have been doing TOO MUCH!!!  I've moved furniture round in my lounge, cleaned, tidied, washed and cooked - in fact I hardly sat down Monday and Tuesday - and boy did I pay for it.

Instructions were to not do too much and make sure I take my meds regularly (which I haven't for the last couple of days)!!!  The only thing he can give me if the current meds don't work is morphine (which orally didn't work for me when I was in hospital).  Anyway, he's signed me off for a further 6 weeks...

Anyway that's enough of that, if you want to join in the cult that is WOYWW, click here to visit the Queen of WOYWW - Julia of Stamping Ground, leave a comment, link your desk - then go have a gander at everyone elses desk and leave some lurrrvvvve!!!!

Big hugs to you all - I'm off for a nosey look round at all those other WOYWWer's lovely desks - be them messy, tidy, loved, unloved - be it a washing machine, dining table, dressing table, camping table or even floor (Helen)!!!

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to read this post. Please come back again.

though in my house it is called a 'pressy' cos you press it, logical no? my son gave it that name 19 odd years ago and it stuck.

Gorgeous flowers, now do as you are told and rest!

Oh and I think you should journal this year, now I am 4 years down the line I really wished I had journalled while I was ill, as now I have forgotten so much. OBV a lot is stuff I wish to forget, but I think now I am over it I would like to be able to read back on it.

Maybe you could just journal your recovery!

  26. qoq! Aren't you supposed to be taking it easy, Paula? hahaha
Great photos, lots of lovely stash and "half-mades" - nice to know I'm not the only one with a few of those. My hubby calls me "Kathy Half Jobs" because I've always got a few things on the go whereas he likes to see one project through to the end.
He also calls me "Kathy Full-Throttle" but that's another story....

Your flower looks great the fab thing about those flowers is that there's no right or wrong way/size/shape - you just fiddle about and tweak until you're happy

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Girl friend Why aren't you taking it easy ?? If I was nearer I'd have to pop round and sort you out !! with chocolates of course !! hehe

  40. Hi hun, please behave yourself and start taking it easy! Don't be lifting anything heavier than a piece of designer paper!

Love your messy and interesting desk, I must investigate that ceramic cutter - I'm rubbish with normal craft knives but I fancy giving this one a go.

    Big hugs, Nicki, xx

  41. Paula Had to pop back and explain level of stash-if you keep on acquiring stuff for another 14 years maybe you will have as much as I have. I just can't use it quickly any more and believe me I try 'cos there's always something new out there. Your ceramic cutter and those inks to name a few. I just got a new stamp cleaner from Stampin' Up which is ace-three times the size of my old one. Take care Hugs Bettyxxx

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oops Paula meant to say I didn't duplicate an ink pad I duplicated a stamp set and a punch all from Stampin' Up. The punch went back but I didn't like to ask if the stamps could as I had mounted them so I gave them to my sister! See ya.

I'm being really good, take them every day, even though I sit and look at them first thing in a morning and know that once I've taken them I'm going to feel sick. I can tell you it takes a lot of will power. Love all your comments, thanks.

  69. Hi Paula...ooooh..lots of yummy stuff to look at her....your blooms look fab...and yep..I have loadsa "to do" projects...when will I start is anyone's guess!!

Yes I LOVE the tacky glue...usually get it in bulk (lol) on my hols in the states when it's 97cents instead of £4 at home! I use it on everything except ribbon and inserts...it is strong, fast acting (although you do have a tiny second of forgiveness should it be required!) and dries clear so can be used on all your embellies too! Only thing I'd say, when using it on any papers, less is more as it can make your paper feel "rigid"...I go close to the edges when applying to my papers and that takes care of any oozing!! Yep...it's my favourite glue!! bx
